Matt Guerrieri is the managing partner and founder of The Opus Group, a management consulting firm providing strategic and management consulting and interim executive management for technology and manufacturing companies. He is a former technology company president. His management career spans more than thirty-five years as a corporate trouble shooter and turnaround expert.

For the six years prior to founding Opus in 1995, he was president of RPC Industries, a manufacturer of systems for the global polymer materials processing industry, located in the San Francisco Bay area. RPC was an independent subsidiary of Sumitomo Heavy Industries of Tokyo, Japan.

Previous to RPC, Matt’s management experience dates back to 1970. His first general management experience was in 1976 as GM of a division of Applied Materials Inc., the world’s leading supplier of semiconductor processing equipment. In subsequent corporate assignments, he has specialized in internal trouble shooting, turnaround management, and start-ups. He has had direct experience in managing marketing, sales & service, and engineering functions in addition to his General Management assignments.

Among others, Matt has led the following Opus assignments:
• Development of a 3 year strategic plan and restructuring of a $15MM global packaging equipment supplier.
• Interim Executive VP and Chief Development Officer for a four company roll-up into a global manufacturer of image processing and electronic printing systems.
• Lead consultant on the integration and reorganization of the core technology groups resulting from an acquisition by the leading provider of software for graphic design applications.
• Developing a capacity consolidation plan (merging production from two plants to one) for a Division of a $12 Billion global manufacturer of food packaging.
• Development of a market share expansion program for a $50MM global instrumentation supplier.
• Design and implementation of a North American market assessment for a Munich Germany based industrial group interested in bringing former East German plastics recycling technology to the US.
• Creating and implementing a financial restructuring and revenue expansion program for a regional food manufacturer in order to take the company to national distribution.

Matt has a Bachelors of Science from Long Island University, 1965
Professional memberships and past memberships include the Turnaround Management Association, The American Management Association, The American Electronics Association, The Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, The Instrument Society of America, RadTech North America, and the American Society of Testing and Materials.
In addition to his position on the Board of RPC Industries, Matt has served on the Board of Directors of ERAD International, Missoula, Montana, B&H Manufacturing Inc., and Bright Development Inc., Modesto California, and on two community service non-profit corporations in Santa Cruz, California
Matt lives in Santa Cruz CA with his wife Peg and is the father of one adult son.
