PETER SPELLMAN ARCHITECTURE (PSA) is a full service design firm based in Santa Cruz, CA. Current work centers on single and multi-family residences, live-work lofts and commercial projects. The office is involved in a variety of complimentary disciplines including: development strategies, master-planning, interiors/furniture design and prefabrication. Our projects range in scale from the smallest remodel to technically complex commercial and multi-unit residential developments.
Current projects in the office vary in scale and location. Recently completed designs include: a 36 unit affordable housing project, which received a Green Building Award through the City of Santa Cruz’s Green Building Program, 9 new single-family homes located at the Santa Cruz Harbor, 15 new town-homes on the West Side of Santa Cruz, a 60 unit high-end condominium project in downtown Santa Cruz and 4 new single-family homes. There are current residential projects in Santa Cruz, Lake Tahoe, Arizona, Groveland (Yosemite) and Hawaii.
Peter Spellman, principal of PSA, is a LEED Accredited Professional (www.USGBC.ORG) and licensed California Architect.

Originally from Chicago, Peter Spellman builds upon years of experience within nationally and internationally recognized firms where his most recent experience was as an Associate and Residential Studio Director for The Steinberg Architects, a 125 person Architectural practice based in San Jose, California.

Every project is fully developed utilizing 3-dimensional modeling software. This allows for early investigations of design and construction technologies, which maximize sustainability and allow for clarity in communicating designs with clients. Through careful site planning, building and natural energy considerations, daylighting strategies, and material choices PSA strives to develop projects that minimize their impact on the environment.

With each building design, large or small, we strive to understand the individual goals of our client as well as the unique opportunities inherent in each program. We believe that our most important skill is our ability to listen. We view our design process as a collaborative dialogue between architect and client—one in which we strive to avoid predetermined formal strategies in order to respond to the unique goals and constraints inherent in each project. As a practice, we are committed to both the quality of the architecture we produce as well as the service we provide to our clients.

PETERSPELLMAN ARCHITECTURE is a signatory to the 2030 challenge.
